The Pit

I went to the Pit with Pat yesterday. We warmed up on Popeye Meets The Burrito Master, a classic jug haul, and Secret Agent Man. I finished my hardest route to date, Excalibur, 2nd try. I also did The Energizer 2nd try, another classic to the left of Excalibur. More to come...

Red Springs Cave
Pat on Red Springs Cave

We were supposed to go to Bishop this past weekend, but instead we ended up going to Red Rocks near Las Vegas, NV. While Red Rocks is known for sport climbing, the bouldering here is good too. There is a lot of red sandstone blocks in the desert west of Vegas. We climbed at the Kraft Boulders at Calico Basin and Red Springs. Some of the notable climbs I did were Monkey Bars Direct, The Pearl, and Red Springs Cave. Monkey Bars Direct is a short powerful roof with some crimpy holds. The Pearl is a slightly overhung fingery problem that climbs up a beautiful boulder right on the trail. Red Springs cave climbs a somewhat arch feature out a cave. The movement uses a lot of underclings and is very reminiscent of Best of the Best at the Hueco Tanks. Video to come.
